Abstract
The thickness of alveolar bone is one of the limitation factors of orthodontic tooth movement. Cross these limitations in the orthodontic movements may cause periodontal diseases, root resorption, pulpitis, etc. Osteogenic orthodontics that are accelerated by the periodontium is one method for getting around these restrictions and negative effects. Over the last ten years, much study has been conducted on the well-known and efficient technique of alveolar decortication-assisted orthodontic treatment. Corticotomy combined to guided bone regeneration (GBR) can increase the range of orthodontic treatment by allowing predictable and faster movements beyond traditional methods. Piezo surgery is an innovative procedure which can be used for corticotomy. Piezo surgery has selective cutting (no soft tissue damage) and less bleeding during the surgical procedure.
